I write from years of field experience, as a scientist, river guide, and inveterate journal keeper. Keen observation, recording detail, and staying open to what comes are important in all those roles. It’s long been my goal to share my love of beauty and nature with others.Landscapes of drought, flood, and migrations hold my deepest interest.
“From her beautiful imagery . . . it is obvious Lawton shares a true affinity with the wilderness, particularly wild rivers.” — Donna Mulvenna, author of the beautiful memoir Wild Roots: Coming Alive in the French Amazon.
When I’m asked to teach workshops or give readings, I list them here. If I’m lucky, these are done in collaboration with my beloved writer, artist, and scientist friends. You can read more about some of those talented people in the writer-in-residence pages of my Wild + Human Nature Blog.
